King Law's Summer Law Clerk Program is a paid, 10-week experience for 1L and 2L students enrolled at an accredited law school. Positions are available at King Law locations in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.
This is not a research-and-filing internship. From your first week, you will work alongside attorneys handling active cases across multiple practice areas, including Family Law, Criminal Defense, Elder Law, Estate Planning, Civil Litigation, and more.
Important: The program is open to 1L and 2L students. No two days look the same.
Every summer, law clerks are paired with experienced attorneys who are invested in your development. You will not be left to figure things out on your own. Attorneys at King Law take an active role in walking you through how cases are built, how client relationships are managed, and what real legal practice looks like day to day.
Training is built into the program from the start. You will learn how King Law approaches client intake, case strategy, legal research, and courtroom preparation. By the end of the summer, you will have practical skills you can carry into any legal setting.

King Law also offers internship opportunities for undergraduate students interested in the operational side of a growing law firm. These are not legal positions, but they are a real look at how a multi-office professional services organization runs.
If you are studying business, finance, information systems, or a related field and want experience in a professional environment, these positions give you direct exposure to how a firm of this size operates.
King Law handles a wide range of practice areas under one roof. As a law clerk, that means you will see cases and clients that most summer programs would never expose you to. You will attend hearings, observe depositions, sit across from clients going through some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and draft work that actually gets used.
You will also get to know the full team. King Law attorneys collaborate across cases, and you will be part of those conversations from early on.
King Law invests in the experience beyond the work. Throughout the summer, interns take part in team outings and social events that give them a chance to connect with attorneys and staff outside the office. Past outings have included Top Golf and morning hikes.
