Tyler Demery is an associate attorney in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and works out of the firms Cornelius office. Tyler focuses his practice in Criminal Defense.
He was originally born in Richmond, Virginia, and moved to Raleigh at a young age. Even at a young age, he had a unique interest in the criminal justice field. That is what led him to attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and select Criminal Justice as my major. He wanted to use his time at Charlotte to hone his skills and gain as much information as possible about the legal field.
At Charlotte, he was a member of several organizations, such as the UNCC chapter of the NAACP as well as the Pre-Law Society. The organization be is most proud of is an organization called Tenacious Dreamers, in which he was the secretary. Tenacious Dreamers focused on helping the community and often partnered with a local homeless shelter so that the homeless were fed for Thanksgiving.
During his time at Charlotte, he also participated in a summer clerkship for a local criminal defense firm. After obtaining his B.A. in Criminal Justice, he went on to earn his J.D. degree from Elon University School of Law. While at Elon, he was a member of The Innocence Project, an organization that reexamines criminal cases in search of potential errors in their findings. During his 2L year, he completed his residency in Guilford County’s Public Defender’s Office.
When he isn’t doing legal work, he enjoys traveling and watching sports. He is a huge fan of baseball and each year takes a road-trip to see a new MLB team.
