Alayna English

Alayna Powell English is an attorney with King Law, in Forest City, NC, where she focuses her practice on family law. She represents clients in a variety of family-related legal matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, equitable distribution, alimony, adoption, and other domestic issues. Alayna is passionate about helping individuals and families across Western North Carolina navigate life’s most challenging transitions with clarity, compassion, and care. She understands the emotional weight that often comes with family law cases, and she strives to serve as a steady, empathetic presence throughout the legal process.

Alayna believes that effective legal representation in family law is about more than just knowing the law—it’s about understanding people. She takes the time to build trust with her clients, listen to their goals, and guide them toward solutions that are both legally sound and personally meaningful. Whether advocating in the courtroom or negotiating agreements outside of it, Alayna is committed to delivering results with professionalism, integrity, and a deep respect for each client’s unique situation.

Alayna graduated with High Honors from the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville. While in law school, she participated in both the Expungement Clinic and the Domestic Violence Clinic, gaining hands-on experience working directly with clients who were navigating difficult and sensitive issues. These experiences reinforced her desire to pursue a career in family law, where she could continue advocating for individuals during vulnerable times in their lives.

During law school, Alayna also interned with the Knox County District Attorney’s Office, where she gained valuable courtroom experience and developed a strong foundation in litigation. Her academic performance and commitment to service were recognized through several honors, including the Neil Cunningham Best Brief Award for legal writing, as well as the James H. Jarvis II Life and Law Scholarship and the Summers, Rufolo, & Rogers Scholarship.

Before attending law school, Alayna was a Morehead-Cain Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She graduated with highest distinction, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Public Policy. Her academic background in both legal studies and policy analysis gives her a well-rounded approach to understanding the legal and financial complexities that often arise in family law matters.

Alayna’s connection to King Law began during law school, when she interned at the firm’s Marion and Forest City offices. These summer internships gave her firsthand experience working with clients in Western North Carolina and allowed her to develop strong professional relationships within the firm. It was during this time that she solidified her desire to return to the region and serve her community as a family law attorney.

A native of Asheville, North Carolina, Alayna has called Rutherford County home for several years. Her deep roots in the area provide her with a unique understanding of the communities and people she serves. She and her family are active in the local community and attend church nearby. Alayna takes great pride in being a trusted legal advisor to individuals and families in a region that she knows and loves.

Outside of her legal work, Alayna enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Kelley, their young son, Beau, and their two beloved dogs. She finds joy in simple pleasures like taking long walks outdoors, going to the gym, and baking new sweet treats to share with family and friends. A loyal Tar Heel fan, she rarely misses a University of North Carolina basketball game during the season.

Alayna is proud to be part of the King Law team and is committed to upholding the firm’s mission: to deliver exceptional legal services with integrity, professionalism, and compassion.
