Greg Newman is an attorney with King Law and has been practicing law since 1989.  He is a licensed lawyer in Ohio, Tennessee and North Carolina and is admitted to practice law in the federal courts in the northern district of Ohio and in the western district of North Carolina.

A native of Hendersonville, NC,  Greg served as the elected District Attorney for Henderson, Polk and Transylvania Counties for 8 years where he litigated some of the most serious felony cases in Western North Carolina.  The first degree murder trial of State of NC v. Michael Wilkie, prosecuted by Greg and one of his senior assistant district attorneys, was featured on ABC’s 20/20 in 2016.

Before prosecuting cases as the District Attorney, Greg was a trial lawyer for 13 years in Hendersonville.  He represented clients in civil and criminal jury trials  in both state and federal court.

Before moving back to North Carolina in 2000, Greg worked as a criminal prosecutor in Ashland County,  Ohio and with the District Attorney General’s Office in northeast Tennessee.   In both states, he prosecuted several murder cases and other high profile felony cases.

Greg previously served as the Mayor of Hendersonville from 2005 to 2009 and was a candidate for Congress in 2010.

Greg is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville and the University of Dayton School of Law.  He and his wife, Kim, have 3 adult children and 1 grandchild.  Kim and Greg are members of the Hendersonville First Baptist Church.
