

Anna Kegley-Shelton is a Shareholder and estate planning and elder law attorney with King Law, working primarily from the firm’s Rutherford County office in Forest City, North Carolina. She is a respected leader within the firm, serving as Chair of the Legacy Law Group, where she helps guide strategy, mentor attorneys, and ensure high-quality legal services for clients seeking to protect and pass down their legacies.
Anna’s practice focuses on estate planning, elder law, probate, Medicaid asset protection, guardianship, adult adoption, and business formation and contracts. She is also a Certified Family Financial Mediator by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission, helping families resolve financial and property disputes outside the courtroom.
In her estate planning and elder law work, Anna assists clients with preparing wills, drafting powers of attorney for financial and healthcare decisions, and creating trusts to protect assets and provide for loved ones. She also guides families through probate and estate administration, works to protect assets from the costs of long-term care, and helps navigate complex Medicaid planning matters. Her guardianship and adult adoption services address unique family circumstances with care and attention to detail.
Anna earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010, after also attending New York University. She graduated cum laude from Charlotte School of Law in 2013 with her Juris Doctor degree. While in law school, she served as a senior editor of the Property Law Review Journal and as the student leader and contact for Mecklenburg County Teen Court.
Anna has been committed to community service throughout her career. She has served for many years on Rutherford County’s Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and worked as a contract attorney for the Department of Social Services, advocating for the safety and well-being of children and families.
A lifelong resident of Rutherford County, Anna lives in Rutherfordton with her husband and three children. She enjoys raising her children in the same small-town community where she grew up, and she values the opportunity to help others secure their futures and protect what they have worked hard to build.
Outside the office, Anna enjoys being outdoors, gardening, and painting. Her combination of legal skill, leadership at King Law, and dedication to clients makes her a trusted advisor for individuals, families, and businesses throughout western North Carolina.
