King Law is proud to announce that Robert Maitland, a respected attorney and long-time leader in the Triangle legal community, has joined the firm. Rob will be working out of King Law’s Raleigh office, while King Law expands its footprint into Chapel Hill through Rob’s former office location to better serve Orange County and the surrounding communities
Rob Maitland is the former President of the Orange County Bar Association and the Founding Partner of Maitland and Stiffler Law Firm, PLLC. A proud Tar Heel, Rob earned his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles as a UCLA Alumni Scholar.
Throughout his career, Rob has been recognized as both a skilled litigator and a trusted advisor with real-world experience in business, banking, and entrepreneurship. Known as a tough negotiator and advocate for his clients, Rob also brings a unique ability to see the big picture and craft practical, forward-thinking solutions. His approach focuses on being a “deal maker rather than a deal breaker,” helping clients navigate legal, personal, and business challenges with confidence.
Rob has successfully closed thousands of real estate transactions and assisted countless individuals, families, and business owners across Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh, and the greater Triangle area. His work has included helping clients start and grow businesses, negotiate contracts and leases, buy and sell homes, and protect their rights in court. Many in the community also recognize Rob from his pre-game radio broadcasts as a UNC Tar Heel football sports personality.
Rob practices in the areas of mediation, business and entrepreneurial law, family law, wills and estate planning, and probate litigation. He was recently honored by admission to the United States Supreme Court Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of North Carolina.
As part of this transition, Rob’s former partner has assumed responsibility for the firm’s prior business operations. King Law will lease Rob’s former Chapel Hill office and expand its presence in Orange County, allowing the firm to continue serving the community locally.
