Area of Focus
Jerry McGee is a Senior Associate at King Law practicing criminal defense, representing clients facing charges ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies in both District and Superior Court. With more than fourteen years of courtroom experience, including over a decade as a prosecutor, Jerry brings a rare insider’s perspective to the defense table. He understands how the State builds its cases, how prosecutors evaluate charges, and where the opportunities lie to protect his clients’ rights and futures. Jerry approaches every case with the passion, preparation, and hard work his clients deserve when the stakes are at their highest.
Professional Background
A North Carolina native, Jerry grew up in Trinity in Randolph County. He attended Campbell University, where he majored in Pre-Law History and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University in 2009.
Jerry began his legal career in private practice, focusing primarily on criminal defense from 2009 to 2012. In March 2012, he joined the District Attorney’s Office serving Stokes and Surry Counties, where he spent more than fourteen years as an Assistant District Attorney prosecuting cases from misdemeanors to high-level felonies in both District and Superior Court. That extensive prosecutorial experience now informs his work as a defense attorney at King Law’s King, NC office, where he is committed to bringing his experience to bear in the vigorous representation of his clients.
Community and Personal Life
Jerry has lived and worked in King since 2012 and treasures the close-knit, small-town community it provides. Outside the courtroom, he enjoys spending time with his wife of sixteen years, Jordan, and their daughter, Avery. When time allows, you’ll find him hiking, walking his dog Bella, watching movies, or catching a baseball game.
