Area of Focus
Jaron Gurney is a Shareholder with King Law, practicing from the firm’s Hickory, North Carolina office and serving clients throughout Catawba County and the surrounding region. His practice focuses primarily on criminal defense, representing clients facing a wide range of criminal and traffic-related matters. He is committed to providing clear communication, strong advocacy, and effective legal representation throughout every stage of the legal process. As Vice Chair of King Law’s Criminal Law Practice Area Group, Jaron also helps support the firm’s criminal defense team and strategic initiatives.
Professional Background
Jaron earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from North Carolina A&T State University before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law. During law school, he served as Vice President of the Historic Preservation Law Society, working alongside local leaders to help protect historic homes, buildings, and infrastructure amid the continued growth and development of the Charleston area.
While pursuing his legal education, Jaron clerked with several small law firms, where he gained valuable experience and developed a strong appreciation for the importance of attorney-client relationships. These experiences reinforced his belief that effective communication is essential to successful legal representation and client service.
Community and Personal Life
Originally from Trinity, North Carolina, Jaron continues to call the community home. He lives there with his wife, daughter, and their black Labrador retriever.
Outside the office, Jaron enjoys spending time in his garden, surf fishing along North Carolina’s Outer Banks, attending live music events, and sharing his love of Star Wars with his daughter. His commitment to family, community, and meaningful relationships reflects the same values he brings to his legal practice.
