Area of Focus
Frank McFarland is a shareholder, attorney, and member of King Law’s Legal Operations team, where he leads firm-wide initiatives focused on client experience, organizational performance, attorney leadership, and sustainable growth.
A primary focus of Frank’s work in Legal Operations is strengthening the client experience across King Law. He works across Practice Area Groups and offices to evaluate the client journey, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop systems that help ensure clients receive consistent, responsive, and high-quality service as the firm grows.
Frank remains actively engaged with clients throughout their journeys with King Law. Drawing on his broad legal experience and knowledge of King Law’s attorneys and practice areas, Frank works to understand each client’s individual circumstances and legal needs and helps connect clients with the attorney or legal team best suited to serve them.
That continued client interaction provides Frank with firsthand insight into what clients need and expect from their legal team. He works with attorneys, Practice Area Group leaders, and other firm leaders to use those insights to strengthen communication, improve consistency, and identify opportunities to enhance the experience clients receive throughout their representation.
Frank’s work in Legal Operations also extends beyond Client Experience. He works closely with Practice Area Group leaders on performance, leadership development, accountability, and operational strategy. Having spent years representing clients and leading attorneys, Frank brings a practical understanding of both the client’s perspective and the realities of delivering legal services.
As King Law continues to grow, Frank’s work is increasingly focused on ensuring that growth strengthens rather than dilutes the client experience. By remaining connected to clients while helping shape the systems behind their experience, he helps King Law build an organization capable of growing while preserving the quality, responsiveness, and personal service clients expect and deserve.
Professional Background
Frank brings a combination of legal, business, and leadership experience to his work in Legal Operations. Before transitioning his primary focus to Legal Operations, he served in leadership of King Law’s Family Law Practice Area Group and maintained an active litigation practice throughout Western North Carolina.
His legal experience includes family law, criminal defense, and civil litigation, giving him extensive courtroom experience and close knowledge of the challenges clients and attorneys encounter throughout the legal process. His years of working directly with clients provide him with a broad understanding of the client relationship from the first conversation through representation and resolution.
Frank’s combination of practicing law, leading attorneys, working directly with clients, and participating in the business and growth of the firm provides him with an understanding of both the practice and business of law. He now brings that experience to developing stronger client experiences, legal teams, leaders, and operating systems across King Law.
Frank earned his bachelor’s degree from Gardner-Webb University in 2008 and his Master of Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University in 2010. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Campbell University and is licensed to practice law in North Carolina. His business background complements his legal and leadership experience and provides an additional perspective on organizational performance, growth, and the delivery of legal services.
Community and Personal Life
A native of Cleveland County, Frank has developed strong relationships throughout the legal communities of Western North Carolina and has tried cases in courts throughout the region.
Frank lives in Shelby with his wife and two daughters. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, following sports, and playing softball.
