Area of Focus
Benjamin Waldman is a Criminal Defense Senior Associate based in Asheville, representing clients across Western North Carolina. As part of King Law’s Criminal Defense team, Benjamin is in court nearly every day across many counties and has gained vast experience in felony and misdemeanor cases. He is devoted to trial advocacy, high-level negotiations, and tailoring each case to individual clients.
Professional Background
Benjamin earned his bachelor’s degree from UNC Charlotte, majoring in Criminal Justice and Political Science. He then graduated from Michigan State University College of Law, where he gained experience in many practice areas while focused on a career in criminal defense. Throughout law school, Benjamin worked for a solo practitioner who provided hands-on mentorship in areas such as domestic law, estate planning, and law firm management. He then gained valuable experience with the City Attorney’s Office in Lansing, Michigan, where he gained a prosecutor’s perspective and learned the ropes of municipal law.
Community and Personal Life
In the community, Benjamin serves on the Council on Aging of Buncombe County’s board. He is also a Committee Chair for the Buncombe County Bar, Young Lawyers Division and represents many indigent defendants on Buncombe County’s court-appointed list. Outside of courtroom advocacy, Benjamin enjoys watching and playing sports, especially the Michigan State Spartans. He is learning to play piano and loves soaking in the wonders of Western North Carolina with his family and friends. He resides in Buncombe County with his wife and lives within minutes of family.
