Ashley Lorance is a Partner at King Law and Family Law Practice Area Group Chair, with more than a decade of experience as a North Carolina family law attorney, guiding clients through some of life’s most challenging legal situations. She is passionate about helping people find relief and clarity during difficult times, providing attentive, approachable, and personalized legal representation tailored to each client’s unique needs. Whenever possible, Ashley strives to resolve cases amicably and efficiently outside of court, saving clients time, money, and stress, while remaining fully prepared to litigate when necessary to protect her clients’ rights and best interests.
Ashley’s practice includes representing clients in high-asset divorce cases, where the division of marital property requires in-depth financial analysis, business valuations, and strategic asset protection. She also handles child custody matters, helping parents create custody and visitation arrangements that serve their children’s best interests, and assists clients with child support and alimony cases, ensuring that financial agreements are fair, equitable, and sustainable.

Since 2010, Ashley has practiced primarily in family law, representing clients across North Carolina in matters including high-asset divorce, complex child custody disputes, equitable division of marital property, child support, alimony, and a wide range of other family law matters. Ashley is a North Carolina Board-Certified Family Law Specialist, a distinction held by only a small percentage of attorneys in the state, demonstrating her extensive knowledge, skill, and dedication to family law. She is also a North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission Certified Family Financial Mediator, which allows her to help families resolve conflicts efficiently and with less emotional strain through mediation.
Community and Personal Life
A native of Gaston County, North Carolina, Ashley brings a strong sense of community and connection to her work. Before beginning her legal career, she lived and worked in several different countries, including France, Germany, and Scotland, gaining a unique global perspective that continues to inform her approach to problem-solving and client relationships. This international experience has also enriched her cultural understanding and ability to work with clients from diverse backgrounds.
Her professional involvement reflects her commitment to the legal community. She is an active member of the Gaston County Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association and has served in leadership roles, including as Chair of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice Family Law Section (2014-2015). Ashley has also contributed to the field through publications and speaking engagements, covering topics such as child custody relocation, interstate custody modifications, and child support enforcement.
Deeply committed to service, Ashley has been involved in numerous civic and community organizations. She has previously served as Board Member and Chair of Service Projects for the Gastonia Evening Rotary Club, Board Member for the Alliance for Children and Youth, Communities in Schools (Gaston), and Board Member of Samantha’s House. Currently, she is on the Advisory Council Member for Legal Aid of North Carolina.
Ashley is fluent in German and continues to expand her cultural and professional reach. Currently, she lives in Germany with her husband and two children, working remotely while continuing to represent North Carolina clients with the same dedication and skill that has defined her career.
